NIKo becomes G2 Esports team captain

Danish esports player HooXi is no longer part of the main G2 Esports CS2 roster, as announced by the organization on social media. G2 Esports has stated that they will assist HooXi in finding a new team, and during this period, he will be listed as inactive. It is currently unknown who will replace him in the main roster.

HooXi joined G2 in August 2022 and became the team captain. Under his leadership, the team achieved significant success, winning tournaments such as BLAST Premier: World Final 2022, IEM Katowice 2023, and IEM Cologne 2023, and also finishing in the top four at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. During his time with G2, HooXi participated in 29 tournaments, but his individual rating never exceeded 0.99.

HooXi's best individual performance was at ESL Pro League Season 16 in 2022, where he achieved a rating of 0.99. His worst tournament performance for G2 was at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, where his rating was just 0.59.

Following HooXi's departure, Bosnian player CS2 NiKo conducted a poll among his followers on his personal page on X, asking whether he should become the team captain. The poll results showed that 59.6% of his followers supported the idea of NiKo changing roles. Previously, NiKo had already served as the in-game leader (IGL) for FaZe Clan after karrigan's departure and at IEM Dallas 2024 for G2 when HooXi had to miss the tournament. NiKo mentioned that he is "100% sure that he will become the captain at some point."

Earlier, G2 Esports benched nexa and replaced him with malbsMd.

The current G2 Esports roster is as follows:

  • Nikola "NiKo" Kovač

  • Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov

  • Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač

  • Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
