How Much Do СS2 Map Creators Earn?
The skin creator KR1ZER and blogger MoreGames commented on the earnings of CS2 map creators. They refuted the rumor about $150,000 payments to developers of locations that appeared in the game with the June 26 patch.
KR1ZER:
"Regarding this news ???? It's not true) Someone spoke out of ignorance)
In reality, only two maps, Anubis and Tuscan, were bought for $150,000 each because Valve has specific plans for them (for example, adding Anubis to the competitive map pool).
The maps that were accepted today receive daily revenue, which is negotiated with the mapmakers in advance (hence the early leaked information about these maps).
The amounts that the creators will receive for these maps are not that large. Generally, during their time in the game, 5v5 maps will bring the authors around $50k, and 2v2 maps will bring the authors around $20k."
MoreGames:
"Firstly, maps are not paid for with a one-time sum; they are paid for each day the map is in the game. Secondly, even over a year, such an amount wouldn't accumulate, and on average, community maps stay in the game for about 5 months ????."
Earlier, skin creator HEXETH published a post on his personal Telegram channel about the recent update for CS2. In it, he mentioned a $150,000 sum that Valve supposedly paid to the authors of maps that appeared in the game with the patch. But later HEXETH stated that his messages should not be taken seriously.
Valve released a major update for the shooter on the night of June 26. The patch size was almost 7 GB. Five new community maps, FPS settings, and an updated MVP board were added to the game.
